AEP & Where are they Now?

We are BACK to blogging! Obviously 100 things have happened in the years since we’ve blogged, but I wanted to reintroduce a few of my favorite concepts. My absolute favorite was “Where are They Now?” segment. This is where I catch up with past AEP clients to see how they are doing, what they think about their wedding now that time has passed AND hopefully find out any advice they have for couples getting married. We are starting this one with Nicole & Scott.

Nicole was a bride who knew what she wanted and had a clear vision for her day. Sometimes clients worry that a planner will take over or, worse, try to tell the client how they think their wedding day “should” go. Here at AEP that’s not the way we do things. We always enjoy clients who can articulate what they need and allow us to oversee everything so the day goes exactly the way they want!

Q: How long have you been married?
A: Four years

Q: What are some things that have changed since your wedding day?
A: We bought a house and now have two beautiful girls!

Q:What is the most exciting thing that has happened since you got married?
A: Watching our two girls grow each day.

Q: What were some of the most fun or most stressful parts of planning your wedding?
A: Fun - working with all the vendors and the venue to help make our dream come to life and look how we wanted it to. I love organizing and planning so this part was really fun!

Stressful - getting a thousand opinions from various people on what we should do and how things should go.

Q: Looking back now, what was the best/worst part of your wedding day?
A: Best - spending time on the dance floor with all our friends and family

Worst - We actually didn't spend much time together as a couple after the ceremony

Q: Are these any different then you expected?
A: We both wanted everyone to have a great time and that meant great food and great music. We also both truly thought more things would go wrong than actually did (or at least that we heard about because Brandi handled everything so well!)

Q: Have they changed over time?
A: Nope :)

Q: What is ONE thing you would have done differently for your wedding day?
A: We both wanted everyone to have a great time and that meant great food and great music. However, looking back, we both wish we spent a little more time together during the reception even though we both had a ton of fun. Looking back, it would have been nice to do a "just us" last dance or something else similar.

Q: Are there any new wedding trends you love/hate?
A: Nicole - I LOVE that the more traditional piping style is coming back on wedding cakes.
Both - We have both always disliked photo booths.

Q: Anything you wish you would have spent MORE money on/LESS money on?
A: More money - more desserts! The dessert table went so quickly I didn’t even get to have any.

Less money - I actually don’t have any. I feel we got a good deal on everything!

Q: What advice do you have for couples planning their wedding day?
A: Make sure you plan the day with what you and your partner want. Other people will have ideas and suggestions, but ultimately the day is yours

We get to work with so many different couples with totally different perspectives about how a wedding should look & feel and it’s one of the most exciting parts of the job.  Just because a wedding seems similar
or is at the same venue, doesn’t mean it has to feel the same.
That’s where we come in to make sure all of the details come together to create the perfect energy (or “vibes”) for you and for your guests.

Until next time, remember there is no such thing as “have to” when you are planning your wedding day. Wedding traditions were all made
up by someone, nothing is stopping you from making up your own!
